Frequently asked questions
What does the automatic setting do?
It measures the loudest sound in the file and raises the volume until it almost reaches the maximum (−1 dB), without clipping. The gain is capped at +30 dB so a nearly silent file is not turned into hiss.
Can +10 dB distort the sound?
Parts that would go over the maximum are clipped. If you hear distortion, choose “Automatic” instead.
Is the format kept?
Yes for MP3, WAV, M4A and OGG. Other formats are saved as MP3.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Processing happens entirely in your browser, on your device. No file is uploaded or stored. You can check: once the page has loaded, disconnect from the internet and the tool still works.
Is there a file size or number limit?
No. Since nothing goes through our servers, there is no quota. The only limit is your device's memory: a computer handles very large files more easily than a phone.
Is it really free?
Yes. No sign-up, no watermark added to your documents and no usage limit.
